Hundreds of wine producers, brandowners and wine lovers alike gathered at the CTICC on Friday night for the 29th annual Veritas Wine Awards Dinner.

“The Veritas Awards is the longest running and most prestigious wine competition in South Africa and is synonymous with excellence in wine.”

Guests enjoyed a selection of award winning wines and feasted on, what could only be called, a series of culinary masterpieces as the 2019 Gold and Double Gold Award winners were announced.

Much like 2018, the climax of the evening came with the announcement of Veritas Vertex Award, the overall champion wine selected from a whopping 1 491  entries, with Domaine Des Dieux’s Des Dieux Chardonnay 2015 winning the coveted trophy.

 “In total, 1 411 medals were awarded – 76 Double Gold, 198 Gold, 219 Silver Outstanding, 596 Silver and 322 Bronze.”

Chefs Michael Broughton from Terroir Restaurant and Christophe Dehosse from Joostenberg Bistro and The Vine Bistro added their culinary art to the festive cuisine prepared by Roberto De Carvalho, executive chef of the CTICC.
