Quality Control

SA LITHO is ISO 9001 certified. This Quality Management System enables us to supply quality labels and service to our customers and is maintained via our internal audit programme. We have adopted a continuous improvement approach to the system and regular management review meetings are held where senior management buy-in ensures that we remain focused on continuous improvement. This commitment to quality enables us to supply a quick and consistent service to the factory and our customers.

Our Pharmaceutical Quality System follows a strict process of controls which complies with pharmaceutical standards. The work station purging procedure in place is strictly adhered to which enables us to reduce the risk of product contamination.

We recently acquired three new Rotocontrol slitter-rewinder machines which are fitted with the AVT Helios II inspection control system. This is an automatic 100% quality assurance inspection system used for our self-adhesive printed labels. It inspects for quality defects such as missing labels, defects in character areas, colour variations, registration deviation, missing prints, spots, imperfect matrix peeling and much more. A reporting mechanism provides defect information that can be used for downstream repair on the finishing machine and quality related investigations.

In 2010, we became the first label printing (manufacturer) company in South Africa to receive the Forestry Stewardship Council’s Chain of Custody certification for our conventional printed labels.

 

Using the AVT Helios II 100% inspection system, all labels are checked for print flaws as well as data integrity through a bi-directional inspection process. This, compared to manual inspection systems, removes the human element associated with this task, reduces the risk of the data being contaminated and gives us at SA Litho label printers confidence that we deliver to the high standards associated with pharmaceutical and cosmetic label printing.
